The Northern Light Theatre Company is flying high at the Shedley Theatre in April with its latest production, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
A musical adaptation of the beloved family classic, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang shows off the talents of some of northern Adelaide’s best known acting talents. Northern Lights publicity officer Louise Watkins said the production is a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. “Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family friendly blockbuster that audiences will find truly scrumptious,” Watkins said. Andrew Crispe plays eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, who restores an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children Jeremy (Harry Ince) and Jemima (Holly Abbott). They soon discover the car has magical properties including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst (Gavin Cianci) desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious (Kate Hodges) and batty Grandpa (Russell Ford). “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the perfect family friendly musical and we are very excited to be bringing this show to the Shedley stage,” Watkins said. The Northern Lights version of this wonderful show is directed by Gordon Combes, with Paul Sinkinson acting as music director and Sue Pole the choreographer.
