Playford Palace is back by popular demand in 2018 with one of Australia’s biggest comedy names to headline the Adelaide Fringe festival in the north.
Comedian Peter Helliar will grace the Shedley Theatre stage for one night only on Saturday, 24 February and have the crowd in stitches with his comedic skills and killer punchlines. City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said he is thrilled to have another Aussie comedy legend on the Playford Palace throne. “From our TV screens to on the Shedley stage, Pete is sure to be a hit amongst a northern audience,” Mayor Docherty said. “We want to continue to provide our community with the opportunity to experience the Adelaide Fringe closer to home by bringing big names to Playford.”
Jam-packed program
This Fringe, Playford Palace will offer a three-day program jam-packed with free and affordable entertainment in its new location of the Prince George Plaza. “Playford Palace is set to be bigger than the last with more entertainment for the whole family to enjoy,” Mayor Docherty said. “The Adelaide Fringe has become a staple item in Playford’s events calendar and what better way to celebrate the festival with Playford Palace in our new community space.” Bamboozled Productions has come on board to add to the festivities of the event with a pop-up venue, the Rastelli, offering free 20-minute performances in a variety of different genres, as well as roving entertainers and live music. “From our Strong Woman in the Rastelli to our talented South Australian musicians on the Windsor Green, we look forward to celebrating the Adelaide Fringe with the northern community and visitors to the region,” Mayor Docherty said.
Open time
The official opening of Playford Palace is on Friday night, 23 February, and it runs through to Sunday, 25 February in Prince George Plaza, Playford Boulevard, Elizabeth.
