A combined 70 years of service to local government was recently recognised by the City of Playford.

Councillors Max O’Rielly, Gay Smallwood-Smith (25 years) and Dino Musolino (20 years) each received a certificate for their service to local government. Each of councillors O’Rielly (Elizabeth) and Smallwood-Smith (Munno Para) began their contribution prior to the amalgamation of local government areas that saw the creation of the City of Playford. Cr Musolino joined council at the first local government elections following the merger.

Dino Musolino (1997 to present):
Cr Musolino was instrumental in the first joint venture between the state education department and local government to build a community centre (for Virginia Primary School and local community on local government land).Has been a member of Virginia Horticultural Centre management board, SA Produce Markets director, founding board member of the first Bendigo Community Bank outside of Victoria, Hortex Alliance chair and Deputy Mayor.
Gay Smallwood-Smith (1983 to 1997, 2006 to present):
Cr Smallwood-Smith was the inaugural Munno Para Community Health Centre chair and spent four years chairing the Lyell McEwin Hospital grievance committee. Has been Community and Environment Committee presiding member and is Civic Events Committee presiding member.
Max O’Rielly (1991 to present):
Cr O’Rielly has served on many committees, including the Economic Corporate Committee, Governance Review Committee, the Gawler River Floodplain Management Authority and served on the Murray Darling Association for 18 years. Having three water tanks installed under the Playford Civic Centre, known as ‘O’Rielly’s Tanks’, to assist with water conservation and usage.
Meanwhile, at the same meeting, Councillor Smallwood-Smith was elected as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the current term of Council.
