Mums in the northern suburbs have taken to the mic in a seven-week podcasting trial project, The Podmother, at Northern Sound System.

The program gave women an avenue to talk candidly on a topic they were passionate about. Local budding podcasters opened up the conversation on motherhood, travel, South Australia and their own personal stories. The Podmothers, with support from industry mentors, developed high-quality podcasts, learning all the tricks from behind the mic to the editing room. New to podcasting, Nikolette Lazell said the experience was a great way to learn about a new segment of the broadcast industry. “It’s great to learn the new world, this is the new technology,” Nikolette said. “This experience has helped me with my confidence and to get myself out there." The Honest Mum, also known as Hafifa Khelwaty, said she had definitely found a new hobby. “I think I will keep podcasting, I have a lot of ideas,” Hafifa said. “I have learned so many new skills - interviewing, editing, approaching and talking to new people."
